Vote Democrat! Vote Jill Stein!

Vote Democrat! Vote Jill Stein!

As Kamala Harris strains to be a Republican, she has succeeded in raising tons of cash for her campaign, notes the New York Times today:

Kamala Harris Has Raised $1 Billion Since Entering 2024 Presidential Race

No presidential candidate is believed to have ever raised so much money so fast after entering a race. The campaign has stopped trumpeting its fund-raising totals to keep Democrats from becoming complacent.

Win or lose, it’s already “mission accomplished” for the DNC. Money is what keeps political machines well lubricated, and Harris has raised plenty of it.

But what if you want to vote for traditional Democratic positions? What if you want a candidate who’s pro-union, pro-worker, pro-environment, and generally anti-corporate influence and especially anti-war? That’s not Kamala Harris. If you want a traditional Democrat, you have to look third party to someone like Jill Stein.

Here are a few of Jill Stein’s positions that echo traditional Democratic principles and concerns:

Yes, that slide is from 2016, but Stein has been consistent in her beliefs. And there’s a lot there that I agreed with eight years ago when I first voted for her. And I think traditional Democrats will find much more to like with Stein’s platform in 2024 than with the Harris/Walz platform.

I also deeply appreciate Stein’s commitment to PEACE, a word never used nowadays by the Democrats:

Kamala Harris is at pains to boast she’s a “capitalist,” and she’s certainly proven that with her tight embrace of the big money people. If that’s your idea of a Democrat, well, so be it. I’d much rather vote for someone who sounds like George McGovern or Bobby Kennedy than someone who sounds like Dick and Liz Cheney.

This time around, it’s Jill Stein for me (and not for the first time).
