If Jimmy Dore seems gleeful here, it is not because he is especially pro-war or pro-Russian. It is more that his reporting has been so at odds with the predominant propaganda slant of Western media (which has pushed the tragically false notion that Russia is losing badly) that he is relieved to see the truth he has been telling admitted in the Washington Post.
Why is the idea that Ukraine is winning “tragically” false? Because Western war enthusiasm helps to perpetuate this horrible war, in which it is mostly Ukrainians who are doing the dying. If you listen to military observers such as America’s Scott Ritter (formerly a UN inspector in Iraq) Russia has always had as its main goal the protection of the Eastern provinces, and not the capture of Kiev.
Whether Ukraine is winning or losing depends heavily on whether you are talking about Western or Eastern Ukraine (as both Dore and Ritter emphasize).
In a war with an unprecedented level of propaganda on both sides, it is very difficult to sort out the truth. In this brief report, Jimmy Dore shows you some of it.
(By the way, I have added a link to Scott Ritter’s 13-minute video at the bottom of this posting. It’s worth watching for insight into the true intentions of the United States in Europe. As you watch it (if you do) consider the extent to which Biden is listening to the advice of these nuclear war mongers. I don’t know the answer to that, but the possibilities are very worrisome. Whatever the truth, Biden’s full-bore enthusiasm for pressing the proxy war with Russia rather than exploring every avenue for peace, is extremely troubling.
