Obama Signaling His Clear Desire to Reduce Social Security Benefits

Obama Signaling His Clear Desire to Reduce Social Security Benefits

January 14, 2013 (Posted by) Don Pelton Comments 2 comments

Barak Obama, while addressing a luncheon at the Brookings Institute in 2009 (see short video excerpt below), had this to say about his desire to rewrite the New Deal:

“For those on the left — and I include myself in that category — too many of us have been interested in defending programs the way they were written in 1938, believing that if we admit the need to modernize these programs to fit the changing times, then the other side will use those acknowledgements to destroy them altogether.”

Why does the U.S. government have a website that teaches immigrants how to sign up for welfare programs once they arrive in the United States?

    http://www.welcometousa.gov/Government_benefits/default.htm

Go to this website and take the time to educate yourself on the benefits YOUR tax dollars provide to non-citizens, then call your “elected” representation to express your outrage!

These payoffs to non citizens is yet another reason America is going bankrupt under our unsustainable debt with an out of touch obama who believes “we don’t have a spending problem”.

This liberal left administration is looking at reducing your SS and Medicare (Medicare premiums did go up) benefits.

Everyone’s paycheck shrank in January 2013, you know, so we can payer fare share for these stupid, wasteful programs for non-citizens and the welfare harpies.

This information should make your blood boil! Do something about it! http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml

    Thanks “Debby.”

I reserve my outrage for the extreme subsidies provided by government to welfare corporations while threatening to cut my Social Security benefits. The amount spent on immigrant support by governments at all levels — local, state and federal — is minuscule compared to the obscene subsidies given to tax-avoiding welfare corporations.

Yes, I’m disappointed that Obama, our centrist president, has threatened to cut benefits to Social Security and Medicare. He seems to be doing it in a misguided effort to appease the GOP, who have been zealously trying to undo these New Deal/Great Society programs for the last several decades.

Here’s a an excerpt from a report by the CBO on the cost to government at all levels of immigrant support:

The impact of unauthorized immigrants on the federal budget differs from that population’s effect on state and local budgets primarily because of the types of services provided at each level of government and the rules governing those programs. For instance, most unauthorized immigrants are prohibited from receiving many of the benefits that the federal government provides through SocialSecurity and such need-based programs as Food Stamps, Medicaid (other than emergency services), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.

At the same time, the federal government requires that state and local governments provide certain services to individuals, regardless of their immigration status or ability to pay, in order for those states or localities to participate in some of its assistance programs. Various court decisions also restrict the authority of state and local governments to avoid or constrain the cost of providing services to unauthorized immigrants who reside in their jurisdictions. In general, state and local governments bear much of the cost of providing certain public services—especially services related to education, health care, and law enforcement—to individuals residing in their jurisdictions.

Such programs constitute a major portion of those governments’ annual expenditures, but spending by state and local governments on services specifically provided to unauthorized immigrants makes up a small percentage of those governments’ total spending.
