Sizzling Heat, Storms, Wildfires: ‘This Is Just the Beginning’
“This is just the beginning,” warns Jeff Masters, director of meteorology at the Weather Underground, of what life with the impacts of climate change will look like. His message follows a week in which 2000 heat records were matched or broken and the month of June in which over 3200 heat records were matched or broken.

“This is what global warming looks like at the regional or personal level,” said Jonathan Overpeck, professor of geosciences and atmospheric sciences at the University of Arizona. “The extra heat increases the odds of worse heat waves, droughts, storms and wildfire. This is certainly what I and many other climate scientists have been warning about.”

We in Calif have had it easy, but Masters says next week may be our turn to taste the future:
“Around July 11, a sharp ridge of high pressure is expected to build in over the Western U.S., bringing the potential for crazy-hot conditions capable of toppling all-time heat records in many western states. ”

Thanks Don for running this post.
Anna:
I saw a comment yesterday (I can’t remember where) in relation to the heat wave on the East coast. It went something like this: “The heat waves usually progress from the east to the west coast, so look for similar conditions in the west later in the summer.”
It sounds like it’s gonna be sooner, rather than later.
