KVIE’s “Viewfinder” Features Teen-Aged Nevada County Composers

April 7, 2011 SVadmin Comments 0 Comment

I thought I had a rough idea how much artistic talent there is in Nevada County.

After watching Viewfinder last night, I realized that I had no idea.

The current episode of KVIE’s Viewfinder  (called “My Musical Life“) features young Nevada County composers and their work in a class called “Young Composers” offered year-round by Music in the Mountains.

This is a beautiful and moving program, one — come to think of it — that the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Resource Council should recommend to anyone thinking of moving to this area. There are scenes of Nevada City’s Broad Street in summer and winter, the homes and families of some of the young composers, and above all the bright eyes and eager faces of these young and energetic artists themselves, who are already working on their life’s mission in ways that I could not have imagined when I was a teenager.

Below is a short 5-minute “preview” that I created by stitching together a few excerpts from the program.

And below that — for you to watch when you have time — is the complete 27-minute episode..

Watch the full episode. See more ViewFinder.
