Here’s an interesting tool, the Associated Press Economic Stress Index (data as of Sept 2009).

The unemployment rate for Nevada County shows as 10.9%, lower — for whatever poor consolation this may be — than, say, Imperial County, California (30.1%); Yuma County, Arizona (24.2%); Clark County, Nevada (23.83%), and many counties in Michigan, Florida, Alabama, etc.
