I am not surprised by this information, having taken pains to discover these truths long ago. What surprises me, though it should not, is the misconceptions of the public as to the inequities of the American economy.
The media, the government, even our system of education, all conspire to keep us thinking we actually do live in the land of the free, in the “greatest democracy on the planet”. Sadly I think that things are just going to have to get worse than they are now before extreme poverty and inequality conspire to create enough unrest to force change.
